Group of three snow igloos.
Evidence
Igluit were built as a complex that included a main room and adjoining rooms with various purposes. The room with the chimney was the kitchen area.
Perspective
The iglu is considered one of the most innovative technologies developed by Inuit.
Significance
The iglu allowed Inuit to live in relative comfort through long, harsh winters. The insulating properties of snow enabled the homes to be heated with very low flames from soapstone stoves.
